CHARLOTTE KEIL

Charlotte “chilly” Keil

B. 2002, NYC

Currently living and working between NYC and the North Fork of Long Island

2024 B.S. Interdisciplinary Studies, Fashion Studies minor, Cornell University

Charlotte works primarily with painting and mixed media on linen and canvas to create visual and psychologically driven works. Deriving from a compulsion to self mythologize and make use of auto-fiction alongside art, history, and science, she's often incorporating human and fem presenting figures. Her works are anchored in the use of color and balance and are inherently intertwined with her environment, lifestyle, and academic study – shaping an aesthetic taste and critical point of view. Ultimately, practice and creation feel critical to Charlotte’s existence and act as both the tool and the product of a psychological investigation into beinghood. She particularily finds the intersection of the psychological with the material quite addictive. Its a satisfying click like finally finding your words and learning to speak. Creating, to her, is learning to speak and having the language to articulate yourself! Charlotte works to create her own visual language.
